April Brunch/Meeting

Our April brunch/meeting will be held at San Rafael Joe's 931-4th Street, San Rafael. We will meet at 11:00am.  There is a parking lot at the rear of the restaurant, enter from 3rd Street mid block.  Parking meters do not operate on Sundays.  

Our guest speaker is Karen Lynch, retired San Francisco Police homicide detective.  She recently wrote a best selling autobiography book titled:  "Good Cop Bad Daughter".

December 6th Brunch Meeting in San Rafael

We will be having our December brunch/meeting at San Rafael Joe's Restuarant (931-4th Street) in downtown San Rafael.  There's a parking lot behind the restuarant but you must enter the parking lot from Third Street (mid block). The parking meters do not operate on Sundays so you can park for free.

Our guest speaker will be Randy Lantz of Cool Safety LLC.  Cool Safety offers specialized training in personal safety in critical situations. Randy is retired from UCPD and currently teaches gun safety courses.  Cost of the brunch is $25 per person.

meeting/brunch will be held at Nick's Restuarant in Pacifica.

Our November brunch/meeting will be on Sunday November 1st 10:30 am at Nicks Restuarant 100 Rockaway Beach Ave., Pacifica 94044

Our guest speaker will be Sgt Mark Hernandez SFPD Auxiliary Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT).  He will be making a presentation about ALERT along with members of ALERT.

Our guest speaker will be Richard Schumert who is a member of IPA Region 9 and is a retired Immigration Agent who lived in Italy extensively for 4 years.  He will be talking about his work with the Italian State Police during his time with US INS.

Region 9 will be having a supper club event at the Villa d'Este Italian Restaurant on Monday August 10th.  Jazz music with be provided by Mako on piano and Jonni on vocals.  Come and meet IPA members in San Francisco for a fun evening of good food, music and camaraderie.  The cost of this event is $40 per person

February Brunch/Meeting

Are you ready for Super Bowl XLIX??  Well, so are we!  And for this reason we will  move the our February brunch date from this sunday to next Sunday, February 8th at Otaez Mexican Restaurant in Alameda - 1619 Webster Street.  Our guest speaker will be Ken Bates, who is a Region 9 member, a police officer with Stanford University Dept of Public Safety and a collector of police challenge coins.  We will meet up at 10:00 and begin at 10:30.  We look forward to seeing you there!

Our guest speaker is Mr. Go Funai.Mr. Funai is a Disaster Program Specialist for the American Red Cross, where he supports disaster relief programs in San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. He previously worked for the United Nations in Ukraine, advising that government about disaster-related policies and procedures.  He will be talking about his experiences in Ukraine.

October Brunch/Meeting

October Brunch:  there will NOT be a Region 9 brunch for October.  This is due to the fact that I will be attending the IPA U.S. Section’s National Delegates Convention in NYC and the arrival of the group of 60 Irish police cyclists during the week.  So the October brunch is cancelled.  Instead of a brunch there will be a ‘Meet and Greet’ group dinner with the group of Irish police cyclists, IPA members, and of the Irish Consulate.  The ‘Meet and Greet’ dinner will be at the Holding Company Restaurant, Two Embarcadero, 2nd level, (San Francisco) at 7:30pm on Friday, October 10th. BOOK SIGNING EVENT SAN FRANCISCO

Brent Sverdloff who was our guest speaker in June will have a book signing on his newly released book called, "How could I forget you!" on Tuesday, August 12th at 7:30pm at "Booksmith" in the Haight located at 1644 Haight Street.  It will be an engaging evening with Brent and people interested in learning techniques on how to remember peoples faces and names.  Brent is the Director of SAFE SF.  A crime prevention group who partners with the San Francisco Police Department in educating neighborhood groups, busiesses how to protect themselves from crime and promote crime prevention schemes for the City and County of San Francisco.

Join Region 9 in supporting Alameda and San Leandro Police K9 unit by attending and donating to this event:  THE 2014 ANNUAL POLICE CANINE COMPETITION

San Leandro Police Department Canine Unit and Alameda Police Department Canine Unit are proudly hosting this event. This a fundraiser for the police K9 units of Alameda and San Leandro PDs. Here's information received by Region 9 from San Leandro PD K9 Sgt Nguyen-Delgado:

We are once again preparing to host the 2014 Annual Police Canine Competition. This year, the event will be held on Saturday, August 9th, at the San Leandro Ball Park, from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm. The public and local media groups are welcome. Food vendors will be available on the premises. Participating businesses are invited to set up booths to exhibit their products and services.

We will be having our IPA Region 9 annual backyard BBQ on Sunday July 13th. It will be held in the home (huge backyard) of past President Gary Larsen in Oakland at 11:00am. Please join us for a time of camaraderie, good eating, and friendship. Bring a friend so they can learn about the best kept secret in law enforcement. 

There is no cost to IPA members, the ONLY thing we ask you to bring is your favorite beer, wine or side dish. The region will be supplying the hamburgers, hot dogs, and chips. We look forward to seeing you there!

JUNE Brunch/Meeting

On JUNE 8th at 11:00 am, La Revolucion Mexican Restaurant 3190 Klose Way, Richmond, CA  94806  (by the Hilltop Theater)

Our June guest speaker is Brent Sverdloff, Executive Director of San Francisco Safe.  Brent works with the community to create safer, more vibrant neighborhoods.  SF Safe offer a range of free safety services to residents of San Francisco. They assist residents with setting up neighborhood watch programs, and cover a range of programs, presentations as varied as Older Adult Safety, Pedestrian Safety, Personal Safety, Child Safety for Adults, Business Security, etc.  SF Safe manages the Neighborhood Watch Program for the City & County of San Francisco. SF SAFE works in partnership with SFPD and DPW.
